General Santos

Oh GenSan! Gay life in this fish city is not that suppressed. Thanks to the presence of big names – I mean notable and respectable people in the city who are gay. Though still not so open (as anywhere in this country except Puerto Galera), the gay visitor to GenSan does not necessarily have to suffer bleak conditions!

Am not sure I went to the right places but just the same, I loved it. It was a Kalilangan Festival, so the sights over at the plaza was enormous. I mean, I liked a lot of folks from the audience to the performances and even to those seated up stage! Too many “candidates”! Haaay!

The park/plaza across the church was under construction but just the same, “people” went passing by and I liked strolling along. It was like a fishing expedition hahaha! Nearby is a restobar (forgot the name) that is purportedly a hit with the younger set. Ah the band singers were good. And the small place teemed with humanity all the way to the second floor. Not too comfortable to hit with a target at such a noisy place revving with dance tunes.

Restobars are the way to go in GenSan. That is where the beautiful people head for to see and be seen – consequently to pick and be picked hehe! I liked hanging around Sanmig Sportsbar. But whiling away my time at the piano bar of East Asia Royale Hotel was also grand with constant visits to Babes Bar. A very “convenient” place.

I did visit the “lesser” known places just to see if anything was worth it. and Well, I can tell you, hang around West Wood Restobar, you are sure to catch “company” – if not the patrons, the crews hehe! The singers are good and the patrons are “easier” over at Mismo Acoustic Bar. Only problem is, two girls from a group of 6 (with one lesby) eyed me for the night. When they got a bit more of alcohol, they came and talked to me obviously trying to bed me! When I said I’m gay, no one would believe and one even groped me to check if something would stand up strong! Ah!

Hey, not everything is a night-time affair in GenSan. Daytime lounging around with the free wifi at Genee got me some kind of a headstart with one who smiled back at me. Haaay! Genee is an open restaurant at one corner of the plaza. We decided to meet at Queen Tuna Park at dusk and yes, the place teems with action! Even at the mall, folks are a bit receptive if you try to look at them instead of just glancing!

Anyway, with all the “possibilities” mentioned above, the surefire grand fun for me was with a front clerk of my hotel (Sydney Hotel). But we had to do it elsewhere lest we be caught by one of the waiters whom I bedded last night. Ay, my hair… its getting longer!

I wish I could have stayed at GenSan longer. Then again, I will be back anyway!
